Hey Love Doves!

Just in case you have already forgotten what I look like, I thought I should refresh your memory. I just got out of class and movie night and am now sitting in my dorm room getting ready to work on some homework. We just finished watching "A Few Good Men" with Tom Cruise (I told my professor in jest that's what I was looking for! She just laughed.) We were to analyze the different ways of knowing (Instrumental Knower, Socializing Knower, and Self-Authoring Knower). It's part of our Adult Development Course taught by Ellie Drago-Serverson (we are using two books she wrote for our text). So far so good! Today's classes went well. I am getting used to the hustle and bustle of class and homework. We do have the day off tomorrow, but I do have work to do. I going to start on it tonight so that I won't be tired tomorrow!

Today is my grandma's birthday! So everyone wish my granny a Happy Birthday! My family is in Corpus Christi today, and I sure do miss everyone! I wish I was there eating chocolate cake with everybody...

As for my 4th of July, I will be attending a performance by tap dancer extraordinaire, Savion Glover. You may recall him from many tap dancing commercials. He was also a protege of Gregory Hines and has been in numerous television roles. Tony Award-winning tap pioneer Savion Glover returns to The Joyce in another thrilling production that keeps tap dancing fresh, alive and current. The dancer and choreographer behind Mumbles, the tap dancing penguin hero of “Happy Feet,” Savion Glover inspires all ages with a joy and energy all his own. His effervescent feet transform into musical instruments, so you can hear dance as well as see it.

I am definitely looking forward to this performance! I've always wanted to take tap dancing lessons. Have a wonderful 4th of JULY!!!!!!!

I forgot to mention that I am running for the Summer Principal's Academy Student Council (how ironic huh!) I have to give a speech to my cohort members on Thursday on why I should be elected... I have four points of contention:
  1. I am a representative of the traditional teacher (not a Teach for America or New York Fellows teacher)
  2. I am a representative of the members of the cohort over the age of 26
  3. I am a representative of the great state of Texas (for a different perspective)
  4. and of course I am one of the only members running for the Hispanic population of the cohort (for diversity)

I'll let you know how it goes.

You forgot your most important asset. You are a true educator with a wonderful heart. Enjoy reading your journals... looks like a potential best seller! Your experiences will stay with you forever. Enjoy and be ready to come back and teach the "veterans" new things.
